Meet our new student content assistant, Drew Lutz! Drew is an undergraduate at The Ohio State University studying neuroscience. Throughout his time as a student, Drew has been a member of Buckeyes Raising Awareness In Neuroscience (BRAIN), serving as Community Day Chair and NeuroNights Director, and an undergraduate research assistant and SURF Fellow in the Kokiko-Cochran lab. Drew will use his already estabilished connections and knowledge of CBIRD and the traumatic brain injury community to better manage the CBIRD website and social media pages. Following college, Drew hopes to attend medical school to become either a psychiatrist or a pediatric neurologist. Outside of academics, Drew is a lifelong golfer, enjoys playing cards, and is big into doomscrolling.
Why Neuroscience? "Growing up with a brother with autism, I've always been fascinated on why people behave differently. Once I became a student at Ohio State and joined BRAIN, I became exposed to the traumatic brain injury community and noticed many ties between brain injury survivors and my brother. Although TBI and autism are inherently different, in both circumstances people behave different because there is something atypical going on in the brain. Understanding those differences, rather than judging them, became the driving force behind my academic path."
